Budva: old town, beach days or an easy evening?

Choose the neighbourhood before the hotel: a beach holiday and a nightlife-led stay need different addresses.

The short answer

Choose Budva when an Adriatic beach-town stay is the main purpose. Compare the old town and the main town with Bečići or Rafailovići; treat Petrovac as a separate base decision rather than another central Budva neighbourhood.

Choose it when

Beach days with a wider town and evening choice.

Compare another base when

Choose Petrovac for a more compact coastal base or Ulcinj for the southern sand coast.

01 / Where to stay

Choose the address, not just the town.

Each area changes the everyday walk, the evening route and the transfer. These are editorial fit notes; verify the precise accommodation entrance.

Old town & nearby

For a stay organised around the historic core.

Check before booking: Confirm room access, noise and the walk to your preferred swimming spot.

Main town

For a broader choice of daily services and accommodation styles.

Check before booking: The exact street matters more than a generic central label.

Bečići & Rafailovići

For travellers who want to compare beach-focused alternatives.

Check before booking: Check the actual route to Budva and whether you need to make that journey every evening.

02 / Around the destination

See how each place changes the day.

Four distinct settings, paired with the practical choice each one creates. Photographs show a moment, not current access, weather or availability.

01 / Budva Old Town

Old-town evenings

The old town makes sense when its lanes, restaurants and evening atmosphere are central to the stay. It is less useful as a shortcut to every beach on the Budva Riviera. Before reserving a room, check how luggage reaches the entrance, the likely night-time sound and the actual route to the swimming spot you intend to use most.

02 / Mogren

The path toward Mogren

Mogren is a recognisable Budva beach choice, reached by a coastal approach rather than by every central address equally. The photograph shows the path, not a promise about beach space or water conditions. Check current access and weather, then decide whether a beach day followed by an old-town evening is comfortable from your chosen property.

03 / Bečići

Bečići for a beach-led base

Bečići changes the daily emphasis from Budva’s old town to a longer beach setting and its surrounding accommodation. That can simplify a sea-first holiday, but repeated Budva evenings become a separate transport decision. Compare the precise room-to-beach route, seasonal beach services and how you would get home after dinner rather than treating “near Budva” as one location.

04 / Rafailovići

Rafailovići is its own address

Rafailovići sits on the same wider Riviera but should be checked as its own waterfront base. A photograph of its shore says little about the gradient, parking or walking route from a particular apartment. If the plan includes frequent trips into Budva, test the return journey first; otherwise choose the area for the coast you can use locally.

03 / Make the trip work

From arrival to an actual day.

Arrival

Match the property to Budva town, Bečići or Rafailovići before planning your transfer. “Budva” in a listing does not identify your everyday beach route.

Without a car

Check the walk from your room to the beach and the evening route home. If you plan regular Budva evenings from Bečići or Rafailovići, confirm the return option.

A sensible day

Choose one beach area for the day and leave time for the old town or evening waterfront. Use the property’s actual position to avoid unnecessary cross-town journeys.

04 / Before you commit

Three checks that change the stay.

  1. Choose between nightlife proximity and quieter evenings.
  2. Check current beach access and seasonal property services.
  3. Budget time for the exact transfer rather than relying on a country-wide travel-time promise.

Questions travellers ask

Useful distinctions.

Is Petrovac part of central Budva?

No. Petrovac na Moru is a separate coastal base and should be planned as such.

Should I book beside the old town?

Only if its access, noise and beach route suit the trip; beach-focused areas offer a different trade-off.
